Jr. Cats for a Cause harnesses the power of hockey to give back to our local community through service projects and fundraising events. Our players actively participate in community outreach, learning valuable leadership and teamwork skills while making a meaningful impact off the ice. Charitable Events
Toy Drive
During the 2025–26 season, the Coral Springs Jr. Cats community kicked off their charitable efforts with their very first event of the year: a major toy drive for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Fans, players, and families set a high bar for the season by completely loading the donation bins with an amazing variety of entertainment and comfort items, including 35 large toy sets, 24 games, and 26 cuddly stuffies to help brighten the days of young patients. The drive also focused heavily on creativity and learning, bringing in 32 books, 4 science kits, 11 complete art sets, and 29 packages of various art supplies.
This inaugural initiative went above and beyond by ensuring patients of all ages, and even their four-legged support systems, were cared for. Generous donors contributed 5 baby-specific items for the youngest patients, 12 personal care kits, and 3 specialized items dedicated to the hospital’s animal therapy program. Launching the season with this spectacular effort brought massive smiles to children facing tough medical battles and instantly highlighted the true heart of the Jr. Cats family.
Shut Out Hunger
During the 2025–26 season, the Coral Springs Jr. Cats community rallied together to fight local food insecurity through our “Shut Out Hunger” to benefit Feeding South Florida Food Drive. Fans, players, and families showed incredible generosity by donating a massive 208 pounds of non-perishable food items directly to the donation bins. In addition to the physical food donations, the drive successfully raised $366 in monetary contributions.
Thanks to the efficient network of Feeding South Florida, these combined efforts translated into over 1,500 meals provided to individuals and families in need across our community. This impact showcased the true power of the Jr. Cats family working together off the ice to support our neighbors. Looking back at this fantastic achievement, we are deeply grateful to everyone who helped us smash our goals and score a major victory against hunger.
Paws for a Cause Donation Drive
During the 2025–26 season, the Coral Springs Jr. Cats family stepped up in a massive way by coming together to host a highly successful “Paws for a Cause” UFAR Animal Shelter Drive. Our players, families, and fans completely loaded up the donation bins with critical office and veterinary items, including copy paper, autoclave tape, and controlled substances tracking logs. The shelter’s daily operations received a major boost from a mountain of cleaning and grooming supplies, ranging from laundry detergent, disinfectant sprays, and paper towels to professional grooming kits, specialized pet shampoos, and towels.
The most vulnerable four-legged friends at the shelter were the biggest winners of the drive. Generous donors contributed pet nursing bottles, kitten milk replacer, and premium puppy kibble alongside cases of kitten pâté, adult dog food, and jars of chicken and rice baby food for senior cats. The initiative wrapped up with a spectacular collection of comfort items, highlighted by puppy wee-wee pads and a brand-new cat scratch tower. Looking back at this incredible effort from the 2025–26 season, the Jr. Cats community proved once again that our impact off the ice is just as powerful as our game on it!
Teddy Bear Toss
During the 2025–26 season, the Coral Springs Jr. Cats hosted their thrilling Teddy Bear Toss for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. When the Cats scored their designated goal, fans flooded the ice with over 200 cuddly teddy bears.
These collected stuffed animals were donated directly to local officers to keep inside their patrol vehicles. Officers distribute the bears to comfort young children they encounter while responding to high-stress emergency calls. This event provided a spectacular night of hockey while giving our community a direct way to support law enforcement and help local children in crisis.
