The Coral Springs Jr Cats continue to build out their Premier roster for the upcoming season, announcing the signing of defenseman Samuel Morales.

A Ft. Lauderdale, Florida native, Morales is a 16-year-old right-shot defenseman listed at 6’0″ and 175 lbs — a frame that gives him the reach and physicality teams look for on defense. He brings a well-rounded game to the blue line, pairing his size with solid skating and the mobility to close gaps quickly, defend the rush, and transition the puck up ice.

This will be Morales’ first season with the Jr. Cats organization. He arrives with State Championship tournament experience and a growing resume that has already drawn attention from scouts.

The Jr Cats’ coaching staff has emphasized building a deep, mobile defense corps this season, and Morales’ size, shot side, and physical tools make him a natural fit for that plan. With his combination of length and mobility, he’ll be counted on to contribute at both ends of the ice from day one.

Coral Springs opens Premier play this season with high expectations, and the addition of Morales adds another piece to a blue line the team hopes will be a strength all year.
